At a glance
The best timing balances your available recovery time, the destination’s conditions and the programme’s availability. A low room rate is less useful if the services you need are unavailable.
Look beyond the season label
Ask about temperature, daylight, rain and the indoor alternatives for planned activities. Check whether outdoor facilities and transport operate as expected on your dates. Obtain current local information close to departure.
Allow for the journey
Consider time-zone changes, connecting flights and the first few days after returning. If sleep or fatigue is central to the trip, a closer destination may make the schedule simpler.
Check people and programme dates
Confirm the relevant practitioners, arrival days and minimum stay. Some specialist retreats run only on fixed dates. Avoid paying for a general stay while assuming an advertised visiting expert will be present.
